China and Pakistan have jointly proposed a five-point initiative aimed at restoring stability in the Gulf and Middle East, inviting international collaboration to address one of Asia’s most strategically vital regions. The plan was announced this week during high-level talks in Beijing between Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar.
The initiative emphasizes dialogue, economic cooperation, and conflict resolution mechanisms, reflecting growing concerns over prolonged regional tensions. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Wednesday that the proposal is “open to all countries and international organizations,” signaling Beijing’s intent to position itself as a mediator in Gulf affairs.
Analysts suggest the move aligns with China’s broader economic interests in energy security and trade corridors, while Pakistan seeks to strengthen its role as a regional stabilizer. The proposal comes amid renewed global focus on Middle Eastern security frameworks following recent escalations in maritime disputes and infrastructure investments.
