China has denounced recent US measures limiting its collaboration with Venezuela, calling the actions an unjust interference in bilateral affairs. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning stated on Wednesday that Washington's use of a 'general license' mechanism undermines legitimate cooperation between Beijing and Caracas.
'China firmly opposes any external forces manipulating unilateral sanctions to jeopardize our lawful rights in Venezuela,' Mao said during a regular press briefing. She emphasized that the US should immediately revoke its 'illegal' sanctions against Venezuela rather than attempting to legitimize restrictive policies affecting third-party nations.
The remarks follow heightened diplomatic tensions as China continues expanding economic partnerships in Latin America. Analysts suggest this confrontation reflects broader struggles over development models and international influence in the Global South.
