China and Pakistan Propose 5-Point Plan for Middle East Peace

In a significant diplomatic move, China and Pakistan have jointly presented a five-point roadmap to address escalating tensions in the Middle East during high-level talks in Beijing this week. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar unveiled the proposals during strategic consultations on March 31, 2026.

The comprehensive plan emphasizes immediate conflict de-escalation through:

 1. An urgent ceasefire across conflict zones
 2. Accelerated peace negotiations
 3. Protection of civilian infrastructure
 4. Guaranteed maritime security
 5. Strengthened UN Charter implementation

"Dialogue remains our most powerful tool," stated Wang during the press briefing. "We urge all parties to demonstrate maximum restraint while negotiations progress." The proposals specifically call for safeguarding nuclear facilities and critical energy infrastructure, citing recent attacks on desalination plants as humanitarian crises in the making.

Analysts note this initiative marks Beijing’s most proactive Middle East peace effort since its 2023 mediation between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Pakistan’s involvement brings regional perspective, given its historical ties with Gulf nations. The joint statement reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to "multilateral solutions anchored in international law."
