China Condemns US Senators’ Visit to Taiwan Region, Urges Restraint

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has strongly objected to a recent visit by four US senators to the Taiwan region, calling it a violation of the One-China principle that jeopardizes cross-strait stability. Spokesperson Mao Ning confirmed on Monday that Beijing had lodged formal diplomatic protests with Washington over what it considers 'provocative interference in China's internal affairs.'

Speaking at a regular press briefing, Mao emphasized that Taiwan has been an inseparable part of Chinese territory since ancient times. 'We urge the US side to strictly adhere to the One-China policy, immediately cease any form of official exchanges with the Taiwan region, and avoid sending wrong signals to separatist forces,' the spokesperson stated.

The diplomatic friction comes amid heightened sensitivity in cross-strait relations. Analysts suggest the visit could impact ongoing efforts to maintain dialogue channels between Beijing and Washington, particularly regarding trade and security arrangements in the Asia-Pacific region.

Business leaders across Asia are closely monitoring developments, as renewed tensions could affect supply chains and investment flows in critical semiconductor and technology sectors concentrated in the Taiwan Strait area. Travel advisories for the region remain unchanged, though diplomatic sources indicate consular services are preparing contingency plans.
