China Reaffirms Open Markets, Global Collaboration at Boao Forum 2026

China's top legislator Zhao Leji reinforced the nation's dedication to global economic integration during high-level discussions at the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2026, held this week in Hainan Province. As chairman of the National People's Congress Standing Committee, Zhao emphasized China's unwavering commitment to its open-door policy amid evolving international trade dynamics.

Addressing Chinese and foreign business leaders on March 27, Zhao highlighted China's confidence in maintaining long-term economic stability, noting its 'strong resilience and great potential' despite global uncertainties. The remarks come as multinational corporations assess investment strategies in Asia's largest economy.

'China stands ready to collaborate with all nations in safeguarding the multilateral trading system,' Zhao stated, specifically endorsing the World Trade Organization's central role. The declaration signals continued support for international business partnerships as the country pursues high-quality development goals.

Analysts view this year's forum as particularly significant, with China accounting for nearly 20% of global GDP growth projections through 2030. Zhao's assurance of 'non-discriminatory cooperation environments' aligns with recent measures to streamline foreign investment processes in advanced manufacturing and green energy sectors.
