Chinese authorities have strongly condemned an incident in which an individual claiming to be a Japan Self-Defense Forces officer illegally entered the Chinese embassy compound in Tokyo on March 24, 2026. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stated China was "deeply shocked" by the security breach, which occurred when the suspect scaled the embassy walls.
"This outrageous violation of international law and diplomatic norms demands immediate clarification from Japanese authorities," Lin said during a press briefing. The Chinese government has formally protested through diplomatic channels, urging Japan to thoroughly investigate the incident and prevent recurrence under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
The incident comes amid heightened regional security discussions ahead of the APEC Leaders’ Meeting scheduled for November 2026. Analysts suggest the breach could test bilateral cooperation mechanisms established after recent economic partnership agreements between the two nations.
