China Urges Stable Economic Ties With US Amid High-Level Talks

Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng emphasized the critical importance of stable economic relations between the Chinese mainland and the United States during a meeting with a delegation from the US-China Business Council (USCBC) in Beijing on March 22, 2026. He, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, described bilateral ties as "among the most consequential in the world" and called for sustained collaboration to address global economic challenges.

The vice premier urged USCBC members to leverage their role as a "bridge for friendship" to foster mutual trust and expand trade opportunities. He highlighted China’s vast market potential, encouraging US businesses to deepen investments in sectors like green technology and advanced manufacturing. "Seizing opportunities in China’s development benefits both nations," he stated, underscoring Beijing’s commitment to high-quality growth and openness.

USCBC Chair Rajesh Subramaniam and President Sean Stein reaffirmed the US business community’s confidence in China’s economic trajectory, pledging to strengthen commercial partnerships. "We remain optimistic about long-term prospects here," Stein said, noting plans to expand cross-border innovation initiatives.

The dialogue comes amid heightened global attention on Asia’s economic resilience, with analysts viewing stable China-US relations as pivotal for regional supply chains and financial markets.
