Hong Kong to Host 2026 WIC Asia-Pacific Summit on AI and Digital Innovation

China's Hong Kong Special Administrative Region will host the 2026 World Internet Conference (WIC) Asia-Pacific Summit from April 13 to 14, marking a pivotal moment for regional tech collaboration. Announced during a press conference this week, the event aims to advance discussions on digital intelligence and AI governance while fostering cross-border partnerships.

Key themes include smart living, digital finance, and AI security, with over 10 reports set to outline frameworks for global AI governance systems. Six sub-forums will address specialized topics ranging from intelligent healthcare to cybersecurity, alongside capacity-building workshops for industry professionals.

The summit will also initiate the global nomination process for the 2026 WIC Distinguished Contribution Award and recognize pioneering tech projects through its "Jointly Building a Community with a Shared Future in Cyberspace" initiative. Organizers emphasize the event's role in shaping ethical AI development and strengthening Asia-Pacific leadership in digital transformation.
