As geopolitical tensions and cultural divisions continue to challenge international cooperation, a new multinational survey reveals overwhelming global support for China's Global Civilization Initiative (GCI) as a framework for stability. The study, conducted jointly by CGTN and Renmin University of China and released this month, polled 12,302 respondents across 41 countries and regions.
Civilizational Equality Gains Momentum
With 90.8% of participants endorsing respect for civilizational diversity as essential for international relations, the findings suggest a growing rejection of cultural hierarchy. Notably, 93.1% of African respondents and 90.3% from South America emphasized civilizational equality – the highest regional approval rates globally.
Common Values Over Confrontation
The survey highlights strong consensus on shared human aspirations, with 91.8% agreeing that peace, development, and justice should transcend ideological differences. Youth demographics showed particular enthusiasm, with 91.6% of 25-34 year olds believing cross-cultural exchanges drive human progress.
Global South Leads Dialogue Push
Respondents from developing regions demonstrated strongest support for civilizational dialogue as a conflict-resolution tool (93.5% in Africa, 91.6% in South America). This aligns with the GCI's emphasis on multilateral cooperation through platforms like the recent Global Civilizations Dialogue ministerial meeting.
Researchers employed demographic-balanced sampling from national census data, covering both developed economies and Global South nations. The findings arrive as world leaders increasingly seek alternatives to polarization in international affairs.
