Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty held substantive discussions on Thursday, March 12, 2026, reaffirming their nations' commitment to deepening strategic cooperation. The phone conversation focused on enhancing bilateral trade, cultural exchanges, and coordination on multilateral platforms.

Analysts note the timing coincides with preparations for the 10th anniversary of China's Belt and Road Initiative cooperation with Arab states later this year. Both ministers emphasized the importance of maintaining open communication channels amid evolving global economic conditions.

The dialogue also addressed collaborative efforts in renewable energy projects along the Suez Canal Economic Zone, a priority for infrastructure investors.
