China’s Liu Zixu Secures Double Gold at 2026 Winter Paralympics

Chinese Paralympic athletes made a strong showing in cross-country skiing events at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Games on March 11, with Liu Zixu claiming his second gold medal in three days. The 28-year-old champion dominated the men's sprint sitting final, completing the 1km course in 2:28.9 minutes under the event's disability classification system.

Liu's victory follows his March 9 gold medal win in the biathlon individual sitting event, cementing his status as one of China's top winter sports performers this year. Brazilian skier Cristian Ribera took silver, while Kazakhstan's Yerbol Khamitov secured bronze. Another Chinese athlete, Wang Tao, placed sixth in the final round.

The results highlight China's growing prominence in winter adaptive sports, with athletes demonstrating exceptional performance across multiple disciplines. This year's Paralympic Games have seen increased participation from Asian nations, reflecting broader regional investments in winter sports infrastructure and training programs since Beijing hosted the 2022 Winter Olympics.
