China Condemns Japan’s Taiwan Interference, Warns of Consequences

China has issued a stern warning to Japan over its engagement with Taiwan region officials, with Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun stating Beijing "firmly opposes" any attempts to undermine territorial sovereignty. The remarks came during a March 9 press briefing following reports of Cho Jung-tai, head of the Taiwan region's executive body, conducting activities in Japan that Beijing claims promote separatist agendas.

"Japan's indulgence in provocations and reckless actions will come at a price," Guo emphasized, adding that Tokyo must bear full responsibility for consequences arising from such exchanges. The spokesperson characterized Cho's activities as "despicable" efforts to seek "breakthroughs" for Taiwan independence aspirations.

The diplomatic friction highlights ongoing tensions in cross-strait relations, with Beijing reiterating its position that Taiwan has been an inseparable part of Chinese territory since ancient times. Analysts suggest Japan's recent engagements could complicate regional stability as major Asian powers navigate delicate diplomatic balances.
