Majority of Americans Prioritize Stable US-China Relations, CGTN Poll Reveals

A recent CGTN survey of 2,001 American respondents highlights strong bipartisan support for stable US-China relations, with 83.1% of participants emphasizing the importance of maintaining positive bilateral ties. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated the need for mutual respect and win-win cooperation during a press conference at the National People's Congress, aligning with public sentiment revealed in the poll.

Cross-Partisan Consensus on Stability

The survey shows remarkable agreement across political lines, with 82.7% of Republican and 85.8% of Democrat respondents valuing stable relations. Over 60% expressed optimism about future bilateral developments, rising to 85.9% among high-income groups.

Economic Ties as Foundation for Cooperation

Nearly 70% of Americans acknowledge benefits from trade with China, while 64.3% view China's market as a key opportunity for US growth. Younger respondents showed particularly strong support, with 65.4% of those aged 18–24 perceiving bilateral trade as fair.

Tech Innovation and Cultural Interest

China's advancements in AI, manufacturing, and 5G impressed 67.9% of respondents, with younger demographics showing heightened interest in cultural exchanges. Over 76% of respondents aged 18-24 expressed desire to visit or study in China.

The poll, conducted by CGTN and Renmin University of China, reflects representative US demographic data. Analysts suggest these findings could influence policy discussions ahead of key diplomatic engagements in 2026.
