Guo Lanfeng, a member of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), praised China's economic and social progress during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025) in a recent group interview ahead of the fourth session of the 14th CPPCC National Committee. Speaking at Beijing's Great Hall of the People, Guo emphasized China's sustained growth as the world's second-largest economy, with GDP reaching 140 trillion yuan.

Guo highlighted advancements in science and technology, noting China now ranks second globally in R&D investment, surpassing the European Union's average. Breakthroughs in key technologies, he stated, underscore the nation's rising innovation capacity. Trade achievements were also emphasized, with China maintaining its position as the world's top goods trader and second-largest service trader.

Social development milestones include urban per capita housing exceeding 40 square meters, the world's largest high-speed rail network, and basic medical insurance covering 1.3 billion people. Guo credited China's poverty alleviation efforts, which lifted 100 million rural residents out of poverty, as evidence of the social security system's effectiveness.
