China Urges Diplomatic Solutions for Middle East Stability

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed Beijing's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution during a Wednesday phone call with UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, emphasizing that 'dialogue and diplomacy remain the only viable path' for regional stability.

Against the backdrop of escalating tensions, Wang stressed China's opposition to military escalation: 'The red line on protecting civilians must not be crossed. Attacks on energy infrastructure and economic lifelines only deepen humanitarian crises.' The Political Bureau member announced China's plan to dispatch its Middle East special envoy for renewed mediation efforts across the region.

The UAE foreign minister acknowledged China's balanced approach, stating: 'We appreciate Beijing's consistent impartiality in complex situations.' Abdullah confirmed the Emirates' non-combatant status while pledging enhanced security measures for Chinese nationals and interests within UAE borders.

This diplomatic exchange follows last month's extraordinary meeting of Gulf Cooperation Council foreign ministers, which similarly prioritized negotiated settlements. Analysts suggest China's proactive stance could create new opportunities for multilateral crisis management frameworks in 2026.
