China has called for an immediate halt to military operations in the Middle East, warning of destabilizing spillover effects on global security and the economy. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning emphasized on Tuesday that recent U.S.-Israeli strikes against Iran lacked United Nations Security Council authorization and violated international law, urging all parties to prioritize dialogue over escalation.
Speaking at a press conference, Mao stressed the need to respect Gulf states' sovereignty and territorial integrity while addressing concerns over civilian casualties caused by recent attacks. "Indiscriminate use of force cannot be accepted," she stated, highlighting China's position on protecting non-combatants during conflicts.
On Iran's nuclear program, China reaffirmed support for peaceful resolution through diplomacy, acknowledging Tehran's repeated assurances about its non-military nuclear ambitions. Mao noted: "The issue must return to the track of political solutions, with serious negotiations between involved parties."
The spokesperson also addressed critical shipping routes, urging restraint in the Strait of Hormuz to maintain global trade stability. Her remarks come as regional tensions threaten to disrupt energy supplies and economic recovery efforts worldwide.
