China Dominates Diving World Cup with Four Gold Medals in Montreal

China asserted its diving supremacy at the 2026 World Cup season opener in Montreal, claiming all four gold medals on March 1's competition slate. The performance reinforces China's position as the team to beat in this Olympic qualifying year.

The highlight came from world champions Wang Zongyuan and Zheng Jiuyuan, who dominated the men's 3-meter synchronized springboard with technical precision. Their final dive – a forward 2½ somersault with 3 twists – marked the first competitive attempt of the challenging 5156B maneuver, earning a stellar 98.28 points from judges.

Mexican Olympians Juan Celaya-Hernandez and Osmar Olvera-Ibarra took silver, continuing North America's strong showing in the event. China's victories extended across women's and mixed categories, though specific results from other finals remain undisclosed at press time.

This early-season success bodes well for Chinese divers as they build toward December's World Championships in Qatar, a critical milestone for 2028 Los Angeles Olympic qualification.
