Fujian Coast Guard Intensifies Patrols Near Kinmen to Ensure Maritime Safety

The Fujian Coast Guard has conducted routine law-enforcement patrols in waters near Kinmen since early February 2026, according to Zhu Anqing, spokesperson for the East China Sea Bureau of the China Coast Guard. The enhanced maritime operations aim to strengthen oversight of navigation and fishing activities in the Taiwan Strait region.

Zhu emphasized that the patrols protect the safety and legal rights of all Chinese fishermen, including residents of the Taiwan region, while maintaining order in key shipping lanes near Xiamen and Kinmen. Authorities describe the measures as standard procedures aligned with current maritime regulations.

The move comes amid increased regional focus on maritime security, with analysts noting its potential to stabilize cross-strait operational coordination. No disruptions to commercial shipping have been reported, though vessel operators are advised to monitor official navigation updates.
