Nationwide Network Expansion Ensures Holiday Connectivity
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) announced this week that telecom operators deployed over 260,000 additional 4G and 5G base stations during this year's Spring Festival holiday, marking one of the largest short-term infrastructure expansions in recent years. The effort focused on maintaining seamless connectivity at 13,000 transportation hubs and tourist sites amid heightened travel demand.
Emergency Readiness and Critical Support
More than 21,000 dedicated communication circuits were allocated to support government agencies including the Ministry of Emergency Management, enabling real-time coordination for 8,000 operational scenarios. Over 840,000 base stations and 23.75 million kilometers of transmission lines underwent preventive maintenance checks ahead of peak usage periods.
24/7 Response Teams Mobilized
The sector positioned 240,000 emergency personnel and 49,000 communication vehicles at strategic locations nationwide. This contingency network successfully handled localized traffic surges while maintaining 99.98% service availability across major platforms, according to MIIT data.
