Robotic Martial Arts Dazzle at Beijing’s Temple of Heaven

Humanoid robots developed by Chinese tech firm Unitree Robotics have staged a groundbreaking martial arts performance at Beijing's UNESCO-listed Temple of Heaven, building on their acclaimed appearance at the 2026 Spring Festival Gala earlier this month.

The synchronized mechanical performers demonstrated traditional kung fu movements with precision, combining cutting-edge robotics with China's cultural heritage. The event drew hundreds of spectators to the Ming Dynasty-era complex, which has historically served as a ceremonial space for imperial prayers.

This latest showcase comes as China's robotics industry reports 23% year-on-year growth in production capacity, according to recent Ministry of Industry and Information Technology data. Analysts suggest such cultural-technological fusion events could drive new applications in entertainment, education, and heritage preservation.

Unitree representatives confirmed plans for an Asian tour later this year, with potential stops in Singapore and the Republic of Korea. The company's innovations align with broader national efforts to advance artificial intelligence development while promoting traditional culture.
