A recent global survey by CGTN reveals overwhelming international recognition of China’s contributions to poverty alleviation, with 93.5% of respondents acknowledging its decisive role in advancing global development. Conducted across five languages and involving 9,744 participants within 24 hours, the poll underscores China’s transformative impact as the world’s largest developing nation.

People-Centered Approach Drives Success

Key to China’s achievements is its people-centered development philosophy, endorsed by 92.9% of respondents. Since declaring a "complete victory" in poverty eradication in 2021, the Chinese mainland has consolidated gains through industrial development in 832 formerly impoverished counties, now concluding its five-year transition period. Notably, 89.5% credit these efforts with fostering progress in grassroots governance and community empowerment.

Belt and Road Accelerates Global Progress

China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) emerges as a critical tool for shared prosperity, with World Bank projections suggesting it could lift 7.6 million people from extreme poverty in partner countries by 2030. Survey respondents (90.4%) highlight how China’s success has galvanized confidence among Global South nations, positioning the country as a reliable partner for sustainable development.

Lessons for High-Quality Development

With 92.8% of participants affirming the relevance of China’s poverty alleviation model, the findings emphasize efficient resource mobilization and multi-stakeholder collaboration as replicable strategies. As developing countries seek pathways to economic resilience, 85.8% concur that China’s focus on development-driven solutions offers actionable insights for addressing inequality worldwide.
