China Media Group (CMG) has finalized rehearsals for its 2026 Spring Festival Gala, a cultural juggernaut set to premiere at 8 p.m. CST on February 16. The event, a cornerstone of Lunar New Year celebrations, will blend tradition and innovation across five venues, featuring performances by global stars like Faye Wong, John Legend, and Hélène Rollès.
Musical acts will anchor the evening, with Li Jian’s introspective "Human Resonance" and Ren Suxi and Mao Buyi’s reunion-themed "Just As You Were." Comedy sketches, including Cai Ming’s nostalgic "Grandma’s Favorite," will explore intergenerational bonds and modern life. A futuristic segment titled "Smart Creation of the Future" will integrate VR and drone technology, while regional showcases in Harbin, Yiwu, Hefei, and Yibin highlight the Chinese mainland’s cultural diversity.
The gala will honor everyday heroes, such as World Skills Champions featured in the micro-musical "Every Ray of Light." With cross-strait audiences in mind, the program aims to unite viewers worldwide as they welcome the Year of the Horse.
