China, UK Urged to Deepen Strategic Cooperation Amid Global Challenges

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the importance of strengthening China-UK collaboration during a meeting with British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper on Friday, highlighting both nations' shared responsibilities as permanent UN Security Council members. The talks, held on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, focused on advancing bilateral ties and exploring new avenues for cooperation in 2026.

Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, called for sustained implementation of leadership-level consensus to yield tangible outcomes. He stressed the need for regular high-level exchanges and enhanced strategic coordination to address global security concerns and promote sustainable development.

The discussion underscored opportunities for expanded collaboration in trade, climate action, and technological innovation. Both sides acknowledged the potential for coordinated efforts in stabilizing international supply chains and addressing regional conflicts, reflecting their evolving roles in shaping multilateral solutions.
