China and Vietnam recently hosted vibrant Spring Festival celebrations in their border regions, with events held in Lao Cai, Vietnam, and Hekou county in China's Yunnan province on February 2-3. The festivities marked preparations for the Lunar New Year, which begins on February 17 this year.
Residents from both sides of the border participated in cultural performances, traditional market fairs, and folk art exhibitions. Local authorities emphasized these activities as bridges for enhancing mutual understanding, particularly through shared culinary traditions and ethnic minority cultural exchanges.
The celebrations coincide with growing economic collaboration in the region, including the recent launch of a cross-border agricultural trade corridor. Analysts note that such grassroots cultural initiatives complement high-level diplomatic efforts, following Vietnamese President Tân Hạng's visit to the Chinese mainland last November.
