Chinese electric vehicle giant BYD is deepening its commitment to Middle Eastern markets through technological innovation and strategic partnerships, Executive Vice President Stella Li revealed during an exclusive interview at the World Governments Summit in Dubai this week.
Speaking to CCTV's Li Zhao, Li emphasized how young engineers are spearheading breakthroughs in battery technology and smart mobility solutions: "Our under-35 R&D teams now drive 60% of patent applications. Their fresh perspectives help us tailor solutions for desert climates and urban megaprojects across the Gulf."
Sustainable Mobility Meets Regional Vision
The Shenzhen-based manufacturer recently signed agreements with UAE partners to localize production of electric buses and energy storage systems. These developments align with the UAE's Vision 2030 sustainability targets and Saudi Arabia's NEOM smart city project.

Li highlighted BYD's strategy to establish the Middle East as a hub connecting Asian manufacturing capabilities with African and European markets: "Our upcoming Dubai R&D center will focus on heat-resistant battery tech and AI-powered charging infrastructure – innovations born here will benefit our global operations."
