China Advances Urban Air Mobility with New eVTOL Test Flight

Breakthrough in Low-Altitude Transportation

A Chinese aerospace company has successfully tested a cutting-edge electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, marking a significant step in smart mobility innovation. The China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation's Ninth Academy conducted the inaugural flight at Yongchuan Da'an Airport in Chongqing on February 6, 2026, achieving all performance benchmarks.

Modular Design for Versatile Applications

The aircraft features a revolutionary split design combining a flight module capable of carrying two passengers at 150 km/h altitudes below 3,000 meters, and a ground module with 300+ km range. Its automatic coupling system enables rapid configuration changes for diverse scenarios including emergency response and urban logistics.

Industrial Collaboration Fuels Innovation

Developed in compliance with strict airworthiness standards, the platform integrates automotive industry expertise with aerospace engineering. Five core technologies including tiltrotor control and intelligent flight systems position this development as a potential game-changer for regional transportation networks across Asia.
