Young Stars Shine in Chinese Opera Extravaganza ‘Chu Feng Xin Sheng’

More than 2,000 young performers recently brought traditional Chinese opera to vibrant life during the 'Chu Feng Xin Sheng' children's production in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province. The event showcased diverse regional opera styles through meticulously choreographed performances by artists aged 6 to 18, blending centuries-old art forms with contemporary storytelling.

CGTN Digital's Shanaaz Prince and CMG Xiqu reporter Ju Peiyi captured exclusive backstage moments, revealing hours of makeup sessions and last-minute rehearsals. "These children aren't just performers – they're cultural ambassadors," noted Ju during a break between backstage interviews.

The production highlights China's ongoing efforts to preserve intangible cultural heritage through youth education programs. Many participants belong to after-school opera clubs that have gained popularity across the country this year, combining artistic training with historical education.
