The Guangsha Lions solidified their position atop the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) standings with an 86-77 home victory over the Shandong Kylins in Hangzhou on January 29. The win extends their league-best record to 18-3, showcasing their resilience after avenging a January 25 loss to Shandong.
Shandong started strong with a 10-2 opening run, but Guangsha’s second-quarter surge—led by Rayjon Tucker and Josh Carlton—flipped the momentum. A 17-2 scoring spree and stifling defense limited Shandong to just 10 points in the quarter, giving the Lions a commanding 46-35 halftime lead.
Marquese Chriss’s 28-point effort for Shandong wasn’t enough to counter Tucker’s 26-point performance, as Guangsha sealed their ninth win in 10 games. Meanwhile, the Ningbo Rockets stunned the four-time champion Liaoning Flying Leopards 75-62, handing Liaoning their fifth loss in six games amid a dismal shooting night.
Other results saw the Fujian Sturgeons defeat the Guangzhou Loong Lions 92-85, while the Jiangsu Dragons and Zhejiang Golden Bulls secured decisive wins over the Xinjiang Flying Tigers and Shanxi Loongs, respectively.
