China's electronic information manufacturing sector recorded double-digit growth in 2025, cementing its position as a global technology powerhouse, according to newly released data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The sector's expansion outpaced overall industrial growth for the third consecutive year, driven by breakthroughs in artificial intelligence hardware and next-generation communication systems.
Key production indicators show semiconductor output increased by 18% year-on-year, while 5G equipment manufacturing grew by 22%. Analysts attribute this surge to strategic investments in smart factories and cross-industry digital integration. "The 2025 performance demonstrates China's capacity to lead in high-value tech manufacturing," said Dr. Wei Lin, a Beijing-based industry analyst.
The growth comes as global markets increasingly rely on Chinese-made components for green technologies and AI infrastructure. Recent collaborations between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan region manufacturers have strengthened supply chains for advanced circuit boards and display panels.
With export volumes reaching $420 billion last year, the sector now accounts for 12% of China's total manufacturing output. Government initiatives supporting R&D in quantum computing and industrial automation suggest continued momentum through 2026.
