China has solidified its position as the global leader in electric vehicle infrastructure, operating the world's most extensive charging network capable of supporting over 40 million new energy vehicles, according to the National Energy Administration (NEA).
New data reveals the country reached 20.092 million charging facilities by December 2025, with 71,500 high-speed charging piles now installed across 98% of expressway service areas. Nineteen provincial-level regions have achieved complete township coverage, eliminating range anxiety for urban and rural drivers alike.
The infrastructure boom saw charging stations double from 10 million to 20 million units in just 18 months during 2025. Public charging points now average 46.5 kilowatts of power – a 33% year-on-year increase that enables faster charging times for modern EV models.
This rapid expansion positions China to meet its ambitious carbon neutrality targets while creating new opportunities in the green technology sector. Analysts predict the network's scale will accelerate regional EV adoption rates and strengthen Asia's position in the global energy transition.
