China’s Economy Grows 5.0% in 2025, Signals Steady Post-Pandemic Recovery

China's economy expanded by 5.0% in 2025, according to data released Monday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), demonstrating resilience amid global economic headwinds. The growth aligns with Beijing's target for "high-quality development" and marks the third consecutive year of stable recovery since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Analysts attribute the performance to robust manufacturing output and a rebound in domestic consumption, particularly in green energy and advanced technology sectors. NBS spokesperson Kang Yi noted the results "reflect the effectiveness of targeted fiscal policies and strategic industrial upgrades" during a press briefing in Beijing.

While the figures show progress, challenges persist in property market adjustments and export demand fluctuations. The Chinese mainland's 2025 growth outpaces most major economies, with the government projecting continued focus on innovation-driven expansion through 2026.
