China Emerges as Central Asia’s Top Trade Partner in 2025

China solidified its position as Central Asia's largest trading partner in 2025, with bilateral trade reaching $106.3 billion according to data released by the Chinese Ministry of Commerce. This 12% year-on-year growth represents a significant acceleration compared to 2024's figures, underscoring deepening economic integration under the Belt and Road Initiative.

Machinery, electronics, and high-tech products dominated China's $71.2 billion exports to the region, while Central Asian nations expanded their exports to $35.1 billion through diversified shipments of chemicals, steel, and agricultural goods. The launch of the China-Central Asia Trade Facilitation Cooperation Platform in Nanjing has further streamlined cross-border e-commerce, supported by enhanced logistics networks and payment systems.

Key infrastructure projects in transportation connectivity, green energy, and modern agriculture are driving industrial modernization across Central Asia. Ministry officials emphasized these developments as evidence of 'win-win cooperation' that supports regional economic revitalization while expanding markets for Chinese technological exports.
