Hainan Free Trade Port Surpasses 100,000 Registered Foreign Trade Entities

Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP) has reached a milestone with over 100,000 registered foreign trade entities, according to customs data released this week. The surge follows the launch of special customs operations in December 2025, which introduced zero-tariff expansions and streamlined business processes.

Rapid Growth in Key Economic Hub

Between December 18, 2025, and January 10, 2026, 4,709 new entities registered in the FTP – a growth spurt attributed to enhanced policy incentives. Customs official Zhu He reported that the government service center now handles over 100 daily consultation calls, reflecting intense market interest.

Policy Reforms Drive Momentum

The island-wide customs reforms implemented last December allow freer entry of overseas goods while reducing administrative barriers. Analysts suggest these measures position Hainan as a critical testing ground for China's broader economic opening strategies in 2026.

Implications for Regional Economy

This development signals strengthened confidence in Asia's trade networks, particularly for investors eyeing Southeast Asian supply chain integrations. The FTP's growth aligns with China's push to establish Hainan as an international trade hub by 2035.
