China Urges Restraint Amid Iran Tensions, Backs Diplomatic Solutions

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reiterated Beijing's commitment to peaceful conflict resolution during a Thursday phone call with Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, as regional tensions escalate following recent U.S. military movements. The diplomatic exchange comes amid heightened global concerns over stability in the Middle East.

Wang, a senior member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee Political Bureau, emphasized China's consistent adherence to UN Charter principles and international law. "We oppose the use or threat of force in international relations and reject the imposition of unilateral will through power politics," stated China's top diplomat.

The discussion occurred against the backdrop of recent unrest in Iran, which Araghchi attributed to "external interference" while confirming restored stability. The Iranian official acknowledged China's potential mediating role, stating: "Tehran remains open to dialogue while prepared to counter foreign interventions."

Analysts suggest Beijing's proactive stance aligns with its growing influence in Eurasian security matters. Wang confirmed China's willingness to facilitate dialogue, stating: "We stand ready to play a constructive role in promoting regional peace through multilateral frameworks."
