Guizhou Province, hailed as China's 'digital valley,' achieved a computing power milestone of 150 EFLOPS in 2025—a near threefold increase from 2024—with intelligent computing dominating over 90% of its infrastructure. The announcement came during the province's 2026 data work conference, underscoring its pivotal role in advancing China's AI capabilities.
Home to 50 operational or under-construction data centers, Guizhou has emerged as a national computing network hub, attracting 48 service providers. Fixed-asset investments in computing facilities surpassed 22 billion yuan ($3.14 billion) last year, fueling its transformation into a tech epicenter.
Officials revealed plans to expand capacity to 190 EFLOPS in 2026 through green data center projects and enhanced efficiency measures. EFLOPS (ExaFLOPS), a benchmark for computing performance, quantifies one quintillion calculations per second—a critical metric for AI development and large-scale data processing.
'This growth positions Guizhou at the forefront of China's digital economy,' said a provincial spokesperson, highlighting the region's strategic alignment with national tech priorities.
