China Completes Record 10,000-Tonne Bridge Rotation Over Maglev Line in Shanghai

In a groundbreaking engineering feat, a 10,000-tonne bridge section completed a precision rotation over Shanghai's operational maglev line earlier this week, marking a new milestone in China's infrastructure development. The Chuansha Super Major Bridge executed a 60-degree pivot with millimeter accuracy during a late-night operation on January 8, avoiding disruption to high-speed maglev services below.

Constructed by China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau under Shanghai State Railway Construction Management Company's supervision, the operation required just one hour to position the massive structure across both the maglev tracks and Yingbin Expressway. This achievement accelerates progress on the critical Shanghai-Suzhou-Nantong Railway expansion, which will enhance regional connectivity when completed.

The project showcases advanced engineering solutions, including four intelligent hydraulic jacks that enabled controlled rotation without compromising safety on one of the world's fastest ground transportation systems. Such innovations position China at the forefront of complex urban infrastructure development as major cities across Asia grapple with balancing transport upgrades and operational continuity.
