China, Russia, South Africa Launch ‘Will for Peace 2026’ Naval Drills

Naval forces from China, Russia, and South Africa will conduct the joint maritime exercise 'Will for Peace 2026' off South Africa's Port of Simon's Town this month, as announced by China's Ministry of National Defense. The drills, involving BRICS member states, aim to strengthen collaboration in safeguarding critical shipping routes and maritime economic activities.

Themed 'Joint Actions to Ensure the Safety of Key Shipping Lanes and Maritime Economic Activities,' the exercise includes counter-terrorism simulations, search-and-rescue operations, and anti-sea strike drills. Participants will also engage in professional exchanges and onboard tours to enhance interoperability.

This initiative underscores growing military cooperation among BRICS nations amid rising global maritime security challenges. Analysts note the exercises could bolster regional stability and secure trade corridors vital to Asia's economic networks.
