China, Pakistan Vow to Deepen Strategic Partnership in 2026 Talks

Chinese Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang and Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed commitments to strengthen bilateral cooperation during high-level talks in Beijing this week. The discussions focused on advancing the China-Pakistan community with a shared future, a vision first proposed by leaders of both nations.

Ding, a senior member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized the "iron-clad friendship" between the two countries during the January 4 meeting. He noted that 2025 saw significant progress in implementing joint infrastructure projects under the Belt and Road Initiative, particularly in energy and transportation sectors.

Pakistan's leadership reiterated its adherence to the one-China principle, with Dar stating: "Our partnership remains central to regional stability and economic development." Both sides agreed to enhance coordination on Afghanistan-related security matters and expand agricultural technology exchanges in 2026.

The dialogue coincided with preparations for the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations, marked by new cultural exchange programs and simplified visa procedures for business travelers announced last month.
