Seventh Round of High-Level Talks Kicks Off in Beijing
Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar arrived in China on January 3, 2026, to co-chair the seventh round of the China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue. The three-day visit marks the latest development in what both nations describe as an "ironclad friendship," continuing a tradition of annual high-level exchanges.
Building on Momentum from 2025
The dialogue follows a year of intensified cooperation, including President Asif Ali Zardari's and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's visits to China last year. In August 2025, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Islamabad to co-chair the sixth round of talks, laying groundwork for current discussions on regional security and economic collaboration.
Seven Decades of Strategic Partnership
Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1951, China and Pakistan have maintained consistent political alignment. Analysts note the timing of this year's dialogue holds particular significance as both nations implement joint infrastructure projects under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor framework.
"Our cooperation transcends geopolitical changes," Wang Yi stated during his 2025 visit to Islamabad. "It serves as a stabilising force for South Asia's development."
