Mini Three Links Hit Record Cross-Strait Trips on 25th Anniversary

The 'mini three links' between Fujian Province and Taiwan's Kinmen-Matsu islands marked their 25th anniversary on January 2, 2026, with cross-Strait travel reaching unprecedented levels. Official data reveals these vital connections facilitated over 1.43 million Taiwan resident trips in 2025 alone – the highest annual total since their 2001 launch.

Xiamen immigration authorities reported Wednesday that New Year holiday traffic through the links is projected to surpass 20,000 trips during the three-day period ending today. The routes have evolved from modest trade and postal channels into crucial arteries for family reunions, cultural exchange, and economic collaboration across the Taiwan Strait.

"These links represent more than infrastructure – they're bridges connecting hearts and livelihoods," observed a Fujian-based logistics operator who declined to be named. Business groups note the connections have enabled Taiwan region food producers to efficiently supply mainland markets while helping Fujian manufacturers access Taiwan's tech expertise.

As regional integration accelerates, analysts predict the links will play an expanded role in Beijing's current economic development plans for coastal Fujian. The province recently announced enhanced customs clearance systems to accommodate growing cross-Strait demand through 2026.
