China Welcomes ROK President’s Visit, Stresses One-China Principle

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi reaffirmed China's commitment to strengthening ties with the Republic of Korea (ROK) during a phone call with ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun on Wednesday. Wang, who also serves on the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, emphasized that President Lee Jae Myung's upcoming visit to China will further advance the bilateral strategic cooperative partnership under the guidance of both nations' leaders.

The dialogue highlighted the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, with Wang urging vigilance against historical revisionism. He expressed confidence that the ROK would uphold a responsible stance on historical issues and maintain adherence to the one-China principle regarding the Taiwan question.

ROK Foreign Minister Cho Hyun reiterated President Lee's dedication to deepening cooperation with China, stating that Seoul remains committed to the one-China principle. Both sides pledged to ensure the success of the visit, which is expected to address economic collaboration and regional stability in East Asia.
