China has strengthened its space exploration capabilities with the successful deployment of Shijian-29A and Shijian-29B satellites from Hainan's Wenchang Space Launch Site on December 31, 2025. The Long March-7 carrier rocket lifted off at 6:40 a.m. local time, marking China's 73rd space mission this year – a significant increase from 51 launches in 2024.
Developed by the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology, the modified rocket represents the country's latest advancement in medium-lift launch vehicles capable of deploying multiple satellites simultaneously. The newly launched satellites will conduct critical technology verification tests for space target detection systems, enhancing China's capabilities in orbital monitoring and space environment management.
This mission marks the 623rd flight of the Long March rocket series, underscoring China's growing proficiency in space operations. The achievement comes as global interest in space technology intensifies, with Asian nations accounting for 42% of all orbital launches this year according to recent industry reports.
