Beijing’s Tongzhou Railway Station Opens, Boosts Regional Connectivity

Beijing's Tongzhou Railway Station commenced operations on December 30, 2025, marking a milestone in the Jing-Jin-Ji region's integrated transport network. Located in the capital's eastern district, the station reduces travel time between Beijing and coastal destinations like Qinghuangdao to just 90 minutes, enabling spontaneous weekend trips and smoother cross-city commutes.

The new hub strengthens connectivity across Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei Province, supporting economic collaboration and tourism. With eight major railway stations now operational in Beijing, authorities anticipate handling 6.28 million passenger trips between December 31, 2025, and January 4, 2026, as travelers embark on New Year getaways.

Beijing Railway officials emphasize the station's role in alleviating holiday congestion while fostering long-term regional development. Analysts predict increased business activity in Tongzhou, which has emerged as a sub-center of Beijing since 2025.
