Xi Jinping Stresses Moral Education Reform for Youth in China

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for a unified approach to foster moral and intellectual development among minors, emphasizing collaboration between schools, families, and society. In a recent directive, Xi, who is also the General Secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, described the initiative as a "strategic and fundamental task" to cultivate youth capable of advancing socialist modernization.

The remarks were highlighted at a Beijing symposium on December 15, 2025, attended by senior officials including Cai Qi, a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat. Cai underscored the importance of enhancing family education, improving access to quality cultural resources, and strengthening mental health support systems for minors. He also advocated for stricter measures to prevent juvenile delinquency and improve digital literacy among young people.

Xi’s directive prioritizes instilling core socialist values, encouraging minors to develop "strong moral grounding, intellectual ability, and work skills." The initiative aligns with broader efforts to create a healthier social environment for youth development, ensuring the next generation can contribute meaningfully to national progress.

The symposium concluded with commitments to accelerate policy reforms, reflecting the CPC’s focus on long-term societal stability and ideological cohesion.
