Colorful Guizhou Airlines has launched a direct flight connecting Guiyang, the capital of southwest China's Guizhou Province, with Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, marking a significant step in expanding China's air connectivity with ASEAN nations. The route, which began operations on December 6, 2025, operates three times weekly and is poised to enhance regional trade, tourism, and business exchanges.
Outbound flight GY703 departs Guiyang at 10:50 p.m. Beijing Time, arriving in Ho Chi Minh City at 1:30 a.m. local time. The return flight, GY704, takes off at 2:30 a.m. local time and lands in Guiyang by 7:10 a.m. Beijing Time. This service complements the airline's existing Guiyang-Hanoi route, creating direct links between Guizhou and Vietnam's two largest urban centers.
The launch aligns with broader efforts to deepen China-ASEAN economic integration. In November 2025, a passenger route between Haikou and Vietnam's Nha Trang commenced, while a cargo service linking Nanjing and Malaysia's Kuala Lumpur started operations last month. These developments reflect accelerating regional collaboration as bilateral trade between China and ASEAN continues to surge, reaching a record $982.1 billion in 2024 and growing 8.2% year-on-year in the first 10 months of 2025.
Analysts highlight that improved air networks are critical for sustaining supply chain resilience and fostering cross-border investment in sectors like manufacturing and green energy. The Guiyang-Ho Chi Minh City route is expected to bolster Guizhou's role as a logistics hub for Southeast Asia, particularly for electronics and agricultural exports.
