China Unveils New Evidence on Nanjing Massacre: Historical Truth Restored

The Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders unveiled 13 newly authenticated historical artifacts and documents on Friday, December 5, 2025, marking a significant step in preserving the memory of one of WWII's darkest chapters. The materials include handwritten letters by Japanese soldiers, rare photographs taken after Nanjing's occupation in 1937, and medical records of defenders killed during the conflict.

Notably, English and French periodicals from the era were also released, offering international perspectives on the atrocities. Analysts emphasize these findings counter historical revisionism, with one researcher stating, "These relics are forensic witnesses to history—they speak where survivors cannot."

The Memorial Hall reaffirmed its commitment to historical education amid ongoing efforts to document the massacre, which remains central to cross-cultural understanding in East Asia. The release coincides with heightened academic exchanges between Chinese and global historians this year.
