China has urged the international community to address the root causes of the Palestinian issue, emphasizing the need to correct historical injustices and achieve lasting peace. The call came during a United Nations General Assembly session on December 6, 2025, where resolutions on Palestinian aid and refugee support were adopted despite opposition from the United States and Israel.
Sun Lei, China's deputy permanent representative to the UN, reiterated Beijing's support for Palestine's legitimate national rights, stating that resolving the issue is central to stability in the Middle East. "The Palestinian issue is related to international fairness and justice," Sun said, highlighting China's long-standing humanitarian and development assistance to the region.
The adopted resolutions include measures to bolster the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees and enhance aid to occupied territories. Sun stressed the urgency of a comprehensive ceasefire in Gaza, improved humanitarian conditions, and post-conflict reconstruction led by Palestinians. He also reaffirmed China's commitment to the two-state solution, urging accelerated political negotiations.
