Ms. Pranisa Teopipithporn, Director of Creative Cultural Promotion at Thailand's Department of Cultural Promotion, emphasized cinema's unifying power during the Sino-Thai Film Theme Celebration launch at the 2025 Hainan Island International Film Festival (HIIFF). Speaking on December 5, she highlighted how the festival enables "cultural bridges between China and Thailand through shared storytelling."
Attending HIIFF for the first time, Teopipithporn noted the event's growing significance in Asia's film industry: "This platform allows filmmakers to exchange creative visions while preserving our unique cultural identities." She expressed optimism about increased co-production opportunities following recent Thai cinema successes in the Chinese mainland market.
The festival features 12 collaborative projects exploring historical ties and modern connections between the two nations. Industry analysts suggest such initiatives could boost Southeast Asia's creative economy, projected to grow 8.7% in 2026.
