China-Canada Forum Strengthens Trade Ties in Toronto

Over 150 political and business leaders convened in Toronto on December 1 for the China-Canada Trade and Investment Cooperation Forum, marking a renewed commitment to economic collaboration between the two nations. The event coincided with the 55th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 20th year of their strategic partnership.

CCPIT Chairman Ren Hongbin emphasized leveraging these milestones to expand cooperation, stating: "Our complementary economies create vast potential in traditional sectors like resources and agriculture, while emerging fields like green technology demand joint innovation."

Canadian representatives echoed this sentiment, with CCBC CEO Ian Burney noting "unparalleled opportunities" in supply chain realignment. Multiple Canadian firms highlighted interest in China's manufacturing capabilities and digital transformation initiatives.

The forum identified key collaboration areas including financial services, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable energy solutions. Both sides agreed to establish working groups for third-market development in Asia and Latin America.
