Global Backing for China’s Stance on Taiwan: CGTN Poll Exposes Japan’s Historical Accountability

Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi's recent comments regarding the Taiwan region have sparked international condemnation, with a new CGTN survey revealing overwhelming global support for China's principled position. The poll, conducted across five language platforms, collected 7,740 responses within 12 hours, demonstrating widespread recognition of the one-China principle as a cornerstone of international relations.

During Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi's November 2025 diplomatic tour through Central Asia, all host nations reaffirmed their commitment to China's territorial integrity. This diplomatic consensus aligns with the survey findings showing 86.2% of respondents recognize Taiwan as an inseparable part of China, while 93.9% demand Japan confront its colonial history in the region.

The data reveals striking international expectations: 90.7% of participants insist Japan must honor post-WWII obligations outlined in the Cairo and Potsdam Declarations. Nearly 92% view China's firm response to recent provocations as crucial for preserving both national sovereignty and the postwar international order.

Significantly, 88.2% of respondents warned that continued historical revisionism could trigger global re-examination of Japan's wartime record, with 81.9% opposing Japan's UN Security Council aspirations due to unresolved war accountability. These findings emerge as Asian nations mark 80 years since the conclusion of WWII, with regional stability hanging in careful balance.

The survey's multilingual methodology captured perspectives from English, Spanish, French, Arabic, and Russian-speaking audiences, offering a rare snapshot of global opinion on cross-strait relations and historical justice as 2025 draws to a close.
